Welcome to a new feature on AutoLobotomy.com – Winged Car Wednesday. On Wednesdays we celebrate a vehicle from the past affixed with some form of fabulous wing.

This week we honour the crazy Chapparral 2F. Jim Hall was an innovator of aerodynamics and his cars were often outlandish, yet very effective. The 2F was really a mash-up of two of his previous cars. It combined the closed cockpit design of the 2D with the massive wing from the 2E.
That wing was mounted high in the air on two struts. The coolest part though is that could be adjusted on the fly by the driver’s left foot to maximize down-force while cornering and minimize drag on straightaways.
