Do I really need to elaborate as to why this car qualifies for Winged Car Wednesday? The original massively winged road car, the Superbird was built with one goal in mind – win at NASCAR super speedways.
Back when the SC in NASCAR actually stood for stock cars, Chrysler sought an easy way to make the brand’s entries faster than the competition. Slap a nose cone on the front, and a massive adjustable wing on the back, and sell it to the public. It was now a production vehicle, hence a Stock Car, and qualified for competition.
It quickly annihilated everything in its path.
