Britney’s Music Video Stuffed with ’80s Cars

This edition of music videos and cars is a bit outside of my wheelhouse. I had not heard of this song or viewed the music video until I was conducting research for the Fox Body ‘Stangs Featured in Music Videos article. That is when I stumbled on this retro-inspired video for Pretty Girls by Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea.

It’s a classic alien-come-to-earth storyline, but that’s not what’s important. What is important is that it takes place in the ‘80s and features fantastic machinery, mostly from the tubular big-hair decade. It’s not full of cars like some other videos, but what it does showcase is pretty rad. Below is a breakdown of what can be found.

0:48

Although there is an intensely quick montage of images earlier in the video, the first car to really be showcased in the video begins at the 0:48 mark. It is a classic Jeep CJ-5 in all its topless, door-less glory. But Britney really should pay a bit more attention to the road.

1:08

A C1 Chevrolet Corvette is shown on top of a Hand Car Wash sign, that hopefully is just a replica prop.

1:11

Two muscular guys are seen washing a mint E24 BMW 6-Series and a 200-series Volvo.

1:17-1:59

A lot of dancing and quick cuts take place in front of a 1979-1981 Pontiac Firebird as well as two Mercedes-Benz; a SLC and a W123 sedan.

2:02

The Fox Body Ford Mustang Convertible makes its appearance.

2:44-2:46

A bit of a continuity error as the convertible Mustang is driving down the street in present day, and we see many modern cars in the background such as Teslas, Corollas, Journeys, Challengers, etc.

And that is pretty much it for the rest of the video.
