The predecessor to the Chaparral 2F discussed last year, the 2E was the original big-wing car, featuring an open cockpit compared to the 2F’s closed driver compartment.
Bolted directly to the rear suspension, that massive airfoil could be adjusted via a pedal under the driver’s left foot for maximum downforce when cornering and minimal drag on straightaways. The sub 1,000 kg car received power from an all-aluminum 327 cubic inch V8.
