Graded – Jaguar Sports Cars of the Past

Welcome back to Graded. Here we discuss legendary marques, models, or trim packages, and then affix a letter grade to a selection of vehicles falling under that topic. The grades mean nothing and are completely arbitrary. I fully encourage you to tell me what I got wrong and how you would grade them instead. HaveContinue reading “Graded – Jaguar Sports Cars of the Past”

Winged Car Wednesday

Welcome to a new feature on AutoLobotomy.com – Winged Car Wednesday. On Wednesdays we celebrate a vehicle from the past affixed with some form of fabulous wing. This week we honour the crazy Chapparral 2F. Jim Hall was an innovator of aerodynamics and his cars were often outlandish, yet very effective. The 2F was reallyContinue reading “Winged Car Wednesday”

Dream Nearly Achieved – 1996 Chevrolet Camaro

After my Oldsmobile Alero was unceremoniously ripped from life, I needed a new car. Originally, I decided to purchase a brand new 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Supercharged. With a sizable down payment courtesy of my insurance payout, the monthly finance wasn’t going to be too bad. I ordered a blue coupe with matching blue interior.Continue reading “Dream Nearly Achieved – 1996 Chevrolet Camaro”

Find of the Day – 1986 Pontiac Grand Am SE

Look what we have here. A 1986 Grand Am Coupe with very little mileage, in fantastic condition, for very little money. The exterior looks to be in good shape given the age, with potential blemishes on the rocker panels. The interior is in absolutely fantastic conditions, showcasing nothing but the finest of mid-80s grey material.Continue reading “Find of the Day – 1986 Pontiac Grand Am SE”

Growing Up Gran Turismo – Part Three

Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec (GT3) is an anomaly for me. It is the only Gran Turismo I didn’t buy shortly after its release and it is the only title in the franchise that I didn’t overtly obsess over. There are some very good reasons for this. First, Gran Turismo 3 was released for the PlayStationContinue reading “Growing Up Gran Turismo – Part Three”

Find of the Day – 1981 Honda Prelude

Do you like red? Like, a lot of red, smacking you right in the face? This may be the car for you. Subtly grey on the outside, the interior will brighten anyone’s day; literally. Honda Preludes may not have become enthusiasts dreams until later in life, but these early generations are still very cool. ThisContinue reading “Find of the Day – 1981 Honda Prelude”

Choices – 1992 NASCAR Coupes

Welcome back to Choices. An evolution of a series I wrote years ago where seemingly similar cars are pit against one another in a battle for your affection. It’s like trying to choose your favourite child (although some days that’s easier than others). Your task, if you agree to accept it, is to determine whichContinue reading “Choices – 1992 NASCAR Coupes”

Father’s Day Special – The Most Fun I’ve Ever Had Driving

A lot of people ask me what my favourite car is. It’s a loaded question that I used try to qualify and explain. Now I usually just blurt out whatever automotive device currently has my eye. But you know what no one ever asks me. What is the most fun I have ever had behindContinue reading “Father’s Day Special – The Most Fun I’ve Ever Had Driving”

Graded – 1980s Subarus

Welcome back to Graded. Here we discuss legendary marques, models, or trim packages and affix a letter grade to a selection of vehicles falling under that topic. The grades mean nothing and are completely arbitrary. I fully encourage you to tell me what I got wrong and how you would grade them instead. Have someContinue reading “Graded – 1980s Subarus”

Micro Machines – Simple Brilliance

I’ll get back to the Growing Up Gran Turismo series soon, but first I want to take a break and discuss an entirely different kind of racing game – Micro Machines. It’s a game I never actually owned but very close family friends had a copy for their original NES. Every time we visited theirContinue reading “Micro Machines – Simple Brilliance”
